We are so excited to sponsor two students from the Mombin area at the Ag-Horizon Veterinary Technician School in Deschapelles, Haiti. Our two students, Decembre Alcima and Nadege Cadet, began school on April 5, 2017. They will attend one week classes once a month for about one year. In exchange for being sponsored, they have agreed to work in the Mombin area for five years after their education is completed. They will participate in the Mobile clinics and share the veterinary work-load with Marck (who is currently the person with the most veterinary specific training residing in the Mombin area).
This school, sponsored by Dr. Kelly Crowdis (a veterinarian missionary living in Haiti and working with Christian Veterinary Mission) and her Haitian colleague, Fracciterne Franso Acky, is the only school in Haiti dedicated to exclusive veterinary education. These students will receive practical education in a wide variety of practical veterinary skills, including some surgery.
After their first week of school, Justin wrote:
"Nadege and December told me, they have a good started with the training. They like the way they train them. On the last day they passed an exam and then the result will be when they comeback on May 15 for the second week class... After first week class they did comeback to Mombin Crochu to work with Marck just to continue to have more practice...".
Here are a few pictures from the first week at school;
